There is such a sense of heaviness in the air, as the numbers rise and RIPs flood our news daily. It is indeed sad and concerning…As I sit at my desk, attempting to be productive, I am grateful to have come across some notes from an inspiring talk I heard last year by Cindy Norcott, titled THE FINAL LAP… it lifted my spirits and reminded me that we are not simply meant to Survive, but #thrive – yes, even in the midst of uncertainty and despair, we need to choose to embrace life and LIVE while we are alive.

So I thought I would share some of my favourite bits, in the hope that you too would be inspired…

  • We can go longer than we think. Don’t quit! Push forward.
  • Are you south Afri-can or Afri-can’t? 😁
  • You need to be so full (of joy, positivity, encouragement, love…) that you spill over onto others.
  • If you are saying “I survived” an experience, you are aiming too low.
  • We need to go from surviving to thriving.
  • Stop waiting for “when things get back to normal” this is the new normal. Find ways to make it work. (Safely)
  • In the last few km you have to rely on your mind, your legs can only take you so far.
  • Be in the moment, stop living for the future, look for the blue sky every day!
  • Be careful of your perspective, your reality is what you see. You choose what you see.
  • What are you going to START, STOP, CONTINUE – in your life (e.g. START looking for the silver lining, STOP feeling sorry for myself, CONTINUE trusting God)
  • REST-RELAX-REGROUP – Go into the new season light
  • The biggest problem with society is that leaders have no time to dream – Rob Parsons (Never stop dreaming! it gives you a reason to wake up every day)
  • Importance of Autonomy, flexibility, becoming captains of our own ship. Don’t let your life own you, make choices that create a life worth living.
  • Don’t live the same year over and over and call it a life!I hope that this brings you as much encouragement as it did for me. May every day of your life be filled with meaning and be lived purposefully ❤
